Selwyn Elementary School brought the holiday spirit to life with their spectacular holiday concert, showcasing the incredible talents of their students and the dedication of their teachers. This two-part evening was a perfect blend of joy, music, and community celebration, leaving families and friends in awe of the students' performances.
The evening began with the Kindergarten Winter Concert, which ran from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The youngest stars of Selwyn captivated the audience with their energy and enthusiasm. Performances included festive classics like We Wish You a Merry Christmas and He’ll Be Coming Down the Chimney, led by Ms. Petropoulos, Mrs. Warwick, Ms. Virji, and Ms. Stanley.
Ms. Virji, Ms. Stanley, and Ms. Teves's class brought smiles with The Happiest Christmas Tree, while Mrs. Warwick and Ms. Bazios' class mesmerized with a beautiful rendition of Blowing in the Wind. Ms. Petropoulos' class closed out the performances with the touching This Little Light of Mine.
The highlight of the Kindergarten concert was the sing-along session, where the children encouraged everyone to join in on Frosty the Snowman. It was a wonderful moment of togetherness that filled the room with cheer.
The Primary/Junior Concert began at 6:30 p.m. with a lively choir, accompanied by Mr. Deathe, that set the stage with a multicultural selection of songs including I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, Oh Hanukkah, La Neige Tombe, Diwali Magic, and Siyahamba/Sing Noël.
From there, the performances became even more magical. The Dance Club got everyone moving with Let’s Get Loud, while Ms. Quinn and Mrs. Marrelli brought winter fun to the stage with Out in the Snow.
The talent didn’t stop there. Ms. Yarde's class delivered a spirited Jingle Bell Rock, and Ms. Richards' class melted hearts with What a Wonderful World. Mrs. Anderson's class performed a vibrant Feliz Navidad, and Ms. DeMelo's class amazed with the enchanting Carol of the Bells. The evening wrapped up with Ms. Semadeni's class performance of Better When I’m Dancing, leaving the audience smiling and clapping along.
A special shout-out goes to the student MCs, who guided the audience through the evening with confidence and charm. Thank you to the stage managers for the event that kept everything running smoothly.
The dedication of Selwyn’s teachers shone through in every performance. Their hard work in organizing and practicing with the students ensured that the evening was a success. And, of course, the children themselves deserve heaps of praise for their incredible talent and effort. Their joy and enthusiasm were the true highlights of the night.
Selwyn Elementary’s Holiday Concert was more than just a performance—it was a celebration of community, talent, and the holiday spirit. Families left the event feeling uplifted and proud, reminded of the magic that happens when children and educators come together.
Thank you to everyone who made this night unforgettable!
Selwyn Public School hosted an incredible Movie Night, bringing together families and friends for a warm and memorable community experience. Starting at 5:30 pm, the event was filled with laughter, snacks, and important lessons for all.
The school gym transformed into a cozy theater where families laid out blankets, mats, and even brought along their favorite stuffed animals for extra comfort. The excitement was palpable as everyone settled in to watch The Wild Robot, an engaging and heartwarming animated film.
Beyond the fun of sharing popcorn and pizza, the movie offered profound lessons that left both kids and adults with plenty to think about:

Adaptability Helps You Overcome Challenges
Roz’s ability to learn and adapt to her new environment inspired viewers to embrace challenges with flexibility and creativity.
